From a distance…

The world looks blue and green
And the snow capped mountains white
From a distance
The ocean meets the stream
And the eagle takes to flight.

I couldn’t start this post without paying homage to the beautiful balled written by Julie Gold in 1985. The song went on to win a Song of the Year Grammy for singer Bette Midler in 1991. I embarrassed myself on more than one occasion performing this song at karaoke parties in the 90’s. Now I think of this song when I see some sort of fauna from a distance and I pull out my new Sony HD camera to zoom in and see what the heck it is. Here are some from this week.

I am obviously not Jack Hannah because I needed my camera to identify this critter.

 

In my defense the cat was in the spot marked with a white X.

Another day I spotted a bunch of big grey dirt clods on the lawn. They turned out to be quail.

Then a spotted what appeared to be a bobcat but ended up being the biggest squirrel I have ever seen! Look at the size of it compared to the white cat.

  This wasn’t wasn’t too hard. Just a wild turkey hen.

My most exciting find which appeared in the upper donkey pasture a couple of days ago was this.

 It was a beautiful ring neck pheasant!
