The Mallards

Mr. and Mrs. Mallard are a pair of freeloading ducks who live here on the Buck ‘n Run Ranch. They split their time between their winter home on our pond and their summer home twenty yards away in the irrigation canal. Mr. Mallard likes the swim and fish while the little Mrs. prefers naps on the bank in the sun. Usually when I go out with my camera they make a hasty retreat from the pond to the irrigation canal. With my new camera I can get close enough to them to take pictures and video without them even knowing. You would think they would compensate us with baby ducks, but they haven’t so far. I keep waiting and hoping. In the meantime, I will just enjoy watching them swim in the pond.
