Spring is sneaking in on us, almost making us forget that we never really had a winter. I fear that just as Spring has wrapped us around it’s little finger, Mother Nature will unleash winter upon us, the likes of which we have never seen. I waited all the months since Fall for our first snow at the Buck ‘n Run Ranch. Never happened. Oh sure, there were days of frozen waterers and even the pond froze over once, but no snow. There were days that made me thank myself for purchasing the storm chaser coat from LL Bean before “winter” came. Many frigid morning made me love that coat even more. But winter was brief, timid, and unmemorable. Armed with my camera and a fresh shot of steriods in my spinal column from yesterday, I walked around the property to see up close the hints of early Spring. This fruit tree has bloomed, lost it blossoms and is ready to bud. It did not bear fruit last year so I don’t even know what it is.
This plum tree has already lost most of it’s blossoms. While this one is in full bloom.
This mystery fruit tree has blossomed, lost it’s blossoms, and is now leafed out. Please bear fruit so I know what you are.
I decided I felt well enough to wander up the road to check out a patch of daffodils that sprung up last week.
The short walk was worth it.
As I turned the corner I saw the Buck ‘n Run Ranch, bathed in early sunshine, happy animals in every corner. I don’t know if this is Spring or just a brief respite from “winter” but I know I love it here.
