The moving van just pulled up to take our things from this fabulous old farmhouse to a small rancher in town. The first thing I noticed was “go new places” on the side of the van. We are certainly doing that.
I will miss this big old house, but I need to bring things down a notch, or two in my life. Hobby farming was my dream and I got to experience it for many years. All the wonderful animals who came into and out of our lives, will always be a part of us. All the skills we learned, from coop construction to fence building, will be forever in our memories, not always in a good way! It has been a wild ride and one I wouldn’t change for the world. I think hobby farming and homesteading is a great life for young families and I hope the folks moving in here will thrive.
As for me, I am taking my chickens and old, worn out body to a level acre in town with a small, single story home. I might even take Michael and Tucker, if they behave. 🙂 We’ll have lots of new adventures to share as we renovate the ultimate fixer. Referring to our new home as a “fixer” is an insult to fixers everywhere. So buckle up, grab a cup of coffee and join us on yet another wild ride. Keep your eyes on the road in front of you, because whatever is in your rear view mirror is in the past. Let’s go new places.
Congratulations! Keep us posted
Susan! You need to see this place! It will take you right back to the seventies when we had our first homes; paneling, swag lights, cork on the ceilings, bi-fold closet doors, giant fake rock walls inside and out, etc. Like stepping back in time. You must see it before demolition begins. The mosaic tile floor in the kitchen alone is worth the drive!
