I miss you.
Selling our beloved old farmhouse and finding a new place to love, has taken over our lives. Well, mine and Michael’s. Tucker seems to be taking it all in stride. It will hit him like a ton of bricks when someone pulls the mattress out from under him and puts it in a moving van.
Disturbing photo alert.
Divert your eyes if the sight of a pink mottled dog belly makes you queasy.
Meanwhile, life goes on around here. Crazy Broody #1 hatched out one little yellow chick. She is over-the-moon happy now. She is ruining around clucking and teaching her baby how to be a chicken.
Crazy Broodies #2 and #3 continue to sit on nothing, often together!
And, one of the wild turkeys is raising new babies! There is a doe with two tiny fawns on the property as well but I haven’t managed to get a photo.
We were able to get away for a few days at the beach with granddaughter Emily. The sea life was more active than we have ever seen it. In this picture alone are seagulls, pelicans, sea lions, dolphins and a whale! It was amazing!
Tucker still loves Emily. Emily still tolerates Tucker.
Speaking of Tucker, the little dog who is afraid of everything at home…
Is fearless at the beach!
We got home to find that the hot weather has caused a flurry of activity in the garden. The tomato plants that managed to survive the deer, had tomatoes growing.
The bright purple petunias were full of new blossoms.
The garlic chives had bolted but the flowers were so pretty.
The bees were busy collecting pollen.
Little purple butterflies fluttered on tiny thyme flowers.
The chocolate mint was poised to take over the world.
Only one marigold survived. A closer examination of this photo revealed…
A bee, up to its knees in pollen, and a spider set to strike!
And as you probably guessed dear blog, good food has been enjoyed. A visit to the farmer’s market yielded some fantastic local honey.
Of course, you can’t have honey without biscuits.
Fresh strawberries made their way into homemade ice-cream.
And before Emily headed back home, we had to make pizza!
So while we’ve been busy and stressed, we have not lost sight of the wonderful world around us. We’ll get settled agin soon and be back to regular posting.
In closing,
I must get back to packing,
But, I will be back.
