We had a glorious morning here at the Buck ‘n Run. Michael mowed the grass yesterday, the sun was shining, it was 65 degrees. It was a perfect morning. I took my camera with me hoping to get some pictures of the baby chicks that hatched under my broody overnight. The result was blog fodder which will read as if Michael wrote it, flitting from topic to unrelated topic. But it’s me.
This photo was taken from the intersection of the goat/emu pasture and the the donkey pasture. You can see the house, broody house and five chicken coops.
The runs are totally devoid of vegetation. It is amazing to see the comparison. It looks like we tilled the soil in the runs but the chickens do that on their own.
Those two trees in the background are a hybrid cross of rose acacia and black locust who’s flowers are dropping.
My sweet boy Louis looks like he has a fainting goat growing out of his head.
Look how nicely the feathers are filling in on his back. We still don’t know how he was injured but he is healing well. Louis is on the right in this picture.
Diana ate her oats and Jack’s too. He was not a happy boy.
Three of the eight eggs my broody is sitting on have hatched.
She even let me pick them up and take a picture.
So far she’s doing great as a first time broody.
My faithful companion was with me all the way.
Oops, I almost forgot what this post was all about. Little green apples! Growing on our tree. Looks like we have some aphids. I had better go get a package of ladybugs.
