My first time broody hatched three chicks a couple of days ago. My seriously, one disappeared and we could not find it despite searching. Today the broody brought her two remaining babies out into the run for the first time. They spent the day learning to dust bathe, dig for bugs, and scoot under the fence. Scooting under the fence was a problem for the little blue baby. luckily it got back under before the mean hens next door got it. Tomorrow we will search for a solution to the erosion under the fences.
I am always amazed by broodies. They sit on eggs for three weeks and suddenly have baby chicks. How do they know what to do? It is fascinating and magical every time. Please enjoy a little video.
