Frida came through this morning by laying her first green eggs. I have been waiting months for this and it was not a disappointment. I was worried because I have grown to believe that the color of the green eggs was manipulated on the sellers page to be more vibrant than the real egg. I think , now that I have seen one, that the sellers picture is not completely representative of the egg color but not as far off as I was thinking it might be. I am unhappy when people misrepresent the color of eggs or birds when trying to sell them.
My friend Kelly is going to test hatch for me, I hope! I will collect the eggs as they are laid and store them for incubation. I do not need any more Isbars at this time but certainly want to ascertain if the eggs are fertile and if the hatch rate is good. Here is the medium sized green egg with a few speckles laid this morning by Frida.
Good girl Frida! You made my Christmas very merry indeed. I will have a few chosen friends test hatch these eggs for me and then I will begin to put them up on auction. I have two pullets of laying age and one rooster the same age. Then I have one younger rooster and seven younger pullets. I will have 2 roosters and nine hens whenall is said and done. That should suit my needs as I don’t want to crowd them.
