Contest!

May 28, 2011

The contest is over and the winner announced.  However, in honor of a successful hatch and all chicks arriving safe and sound in Michigan I am having a Second Chance Round for all the losers from Round 1. Here are the rules:

Your guess for round one stays the same for round two. The only change is that we are starting with 33 eggs instead of 31. That should benefit the overzealous contestants. Again, the one whose guess comes closest to the actual number of chicks hatched for shipment next Wed, June 8th wins. No new guesses will be accepted. This is a second chance contest reserved for those who entered and lost Round One.  Sorry Connie, as the winner you do not qualify for the second chance prize! These chicks will be shipping to Shawn in Idaho on Wednesday. Hatch date is Tuesday. This sign is the prize for the Second Chance Round. You know you want this!

I am hatching Icelandic chicks for a online chicken friend, Jake in Michigan.  This will be the first time I have hatched and shipped day-old chicks.  I am a nervous wreck.  The chicks are due to hatch on Memorial Day, Monday May 30th. They will ship on Tuesday.

Just for fun, I am sponsoring a contest to see who can guess how many chicks of the 31 in the incubator will hatch. The winner will receive a vintage style metal sign that reads “Shakey Jake’s Fried Chicken, Chicken so good it will make you wanna slap your Mama!”  The sign has a retail value of $12.48! Factoring in shipping, this is about a $20.00 prize!  What did you expect, this is ChickenSquawk, not The Pioneer Woman!

So here’s the rules.  Leave a comment for this post with your name and email.  If you are a friend from BYC put down your BYC username.  If there is a tie, the winner will be selected at random.  So, take your best guess.  How many of the 31 chicks will hatch in time to ship on Tuesday. Chickens hatch in 21 days and Monday is Day 21. The deadline to enter is midnight, Sunday.
