I thought that might get some attention. More about that later.
I got an early morning call from my Dad asking for assistance to help him get a recliner chair home that he was buying at Sam’s Club. Once you’ve carried three goats in a Hummer you’re willing to try anything. So, we met Mom and Dad at Sam’s Club, loaded the chair into the Hummer and headed to their house.
We got the chair out of the box, put the recliner back in place and Michael decided to be the first to try it out. What happened next I do not know, all I can say is I turned around and saw him and the chair going over backwards to the floor. I am a nurse so one would think my first reaction would have been to run to his side and do an assessment of injuries. Nope, I stood there laughing my head off as my Dad tried to get him up off the floor. Please note that the following photograph is not the actual event. It is merely a reenactment of the actual event.
The chair, it turns out, was defective. It looked like the base was put on backwards allowing it to stop when you lean forward but go all the way over when you lean back. Not a good thing for a recliner. So before anyone else got hurt we loaded it back in the car and exchanged it at Sam’s Club. We opened the new box before leaving the store and found that it was defective too. A full refund was in order. We went out to a nice lunch of fish and chips and then over to Big Lots to look for another chair. Long story short, Dad found a chair he liked so we called for help to load it up. While we waited, I wandered over to the garden aisle and THERE IT WAS, a huge plastic garden rake, perfect for raking up goat poop. I had been looking for such a perfect rake for weeks and there it was, at Big Lots for $8.00! You can imagine my excitement. I snatched it up on the spot. The best part? My Dad bought it for me! A gift poop rake. I was so proud. We delivered the new chair and moved some furniture around in the living room. We left Mom and Dad in their recliners and headed home.
I took my new poop rake out and added some duct tape to the tines to keep the goat poop from getting through. I headed out back to field test it. Wow! What an excellent poop rake. Within minutes I had amassed a giant pile.
I know you’re thinking this just looks like leaves but trust me, the poop to leaf ration is about 95/5%.
Everyone was excited and had to play in the poop pile.
Donovan even thought the poop rake tasted mighty good.
Thanks for a fun day Mom and Dad. Enjoy your new chair Daddy. You know where I’ll be.

I was planning to ask him if he was ok as soon as I stopped laughing. You just beat me to it. I am willing to bet you would have been the first one to hit the EXIT if he had rolled over in Sam’s Club!
I’m sorry, but I still laugh every time I think about it. Remember to tell Bobbi about it this weekend. She needs a good laugh too.
Love,
Mary

I want everyone to know that I was the only one to ask Michael if he was hurt! Fortunately he was not. His head came very close to the wall.

You’ll be raking poop!! hehehe!
I’m glad your Dad wasn’t the 1st one to try the chair, sorry Michael, but Mary wouldn’t have gotten a good ol’ belly laugh if her father would have been on the floor!! And everyone needs a laugh!!
