The feast of Christmas greens

December 28, 2014

We are getting frost at night, so the fall garden season is coming to an end. My dad has a lovely little garden where he grows, lettuce, turnips, and assorted greens. He was planning to remove some plants and asked if the chickens would like them. Are you kidding me? Everyone would like them! I came home from Christmas dinner with a big plastic bag full of greens. The next afternoon the animals enjoyed a Christmas feast of fresh greens from Daddy’s garden.

The chickens love greens. They were very excited.

The donkeys were a bit less enthusiastic but they ate some. Obviously they have a plentiful supply of grass now.

Laverne and Shirley were positively giddy.

But no one got quite as excited as the emus!

They liked the greens almost as much as the plastic bag!

Here’s a little video of the feast of Christmas greens.
