I am a huge fan of Halloween. When my children were little we used to decorate our house and scare the neighborhood kids. A few years ago I started amassing a large collection of Halloween props and decorations. I cannot even estimate the amount of money I spent but we enjoyed it so much. When we moved to an area non conducive to decorating I sold my collection. When we bought this 1800’s farmhouse I imagined it all decked out for Halloween. We moved in three weeks before Halloween last year so we didn’t decorate. This year we started a haunted house theme and will add pieces as time goes by. I saved a floating ghost from my earlier collection because she was my favorite. This year we added a creepy little girl and a poor unfortunate cowboy, driving our buckboard wagon. It’s not much but it’s a start. We’ll add fog on Halloween night.

I love it!! I’ve always wanted to have an 1800-ish home. I’m jealous!! LOL I’m sure your home and land is filled with so much rich history and maybe even a real haunt or two… Halloween is also our favorite time of year — we even got married on Halloween. I’ve got a couple of fun articles on my blog you might like.

That is so cool! I, too, am a huge fan of Halloween. We usually have sound effects that can be heard across the neighborhood. My favorite is my Frankenstein that is motion activated and lifts his head off, his neck lights up where the cut would be bright red, and as his eyes glow, he says something about losing his head. It’s by the front door, so when the kids walk up to hold out their bags, he activates. So much fun…the kids love it…well, the older ones do!

I LOVE it. Mandy is freaked out. That swing is so neat. I miss doing the Halloween stuff every year. Do you remember the year Dad dressed in the scarecrow costume that was sitting on the porch when Mark and I were kids? He scared the living crap out of me. I am still afraid of scarecrows today, I blame you for my sick amusement of scaring people at halloween.
