We made it to Half Moon Bay yesterday on our RV trip to the coast. Tucker has never been to the beach, or so I assume. He spent the first year of life tied to a chain in a yard. The next few months he was physically abused by another “owner.” After being surrendered, he went back into foster care before he came to us.
We weren’t sure how he would like the beach, but we wanted to find out. Turns out, he loves the beach. His favorite thing about being on the beach is getting off leash and playing with the other dogs. He has met lots of nice dogs on the beach including a little girl named Coco. He was quite taken with her. Mostly he and the other dogs said hello by sniffing each other’s butts. I do not understand that practice but they all seem to do it so I am not worried.
Here are some of the dogs Tucker met on the beach.
Tucker also ate lobster which was probably a first for him as well. We are parked in our RV on the same block as Sam’s Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, CA. They are famous for their lobster roll which has no mayo, just celery and melted butter. We couldn’t get a reservation at Sam’s so we did the next best thing and ordered takeout. We ordered a lobster roll, a bowl of clam chowder, the fried oyster appetizer and ahi poke.
The food from Sam’s was delicious except the lobster roll seemed to be missing something. The mayonnaise. We added some and it was much tastier. This was Tucker’s first lobster roll and mine too!

haha love the title on this post! So, my husband and I went to Half Moon Bay on our honeymoon. Brings back lots of memories. I would love to see what my schnauzers think about the beach but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. Dallas is a bit too far from the ocean and based on the way they hate water in general, I’m thinking it would be a bust. Thank you for following me. I love your blog and will be spending some time here.
