Isi needs a flock. (VIDEO)

May 24, 2012

Isi (pronounced Icy) has been my head rooster for nearly three years. He not only takes care of his hens, but mages the junior roosters as well. Since I re-homed all the Icelandics with the exception of him and Lukka he has been lonely and confused. He tries to woo the Isbar pullets through the fence which results in disagreements with Bjorn, my Isbar rooster. Despite her role as the love of Isi’s life, lukka has been busy raising babies. I gave away five of her babies, leaving just the fray feathered baby I call Fugly.

At this time Lukka has stopped mothering Fugly and has indeed renewed her vows with Isi. I have been rewarded with two lovely white eggs, hopefully fertile and the beginning of my new Icelandic flock.

I also moved Judge Judy, Martha Stewart and Skye from their coops and put them out to free range and live with Isi in the barn coop. He is thrilled to have a flock again, albeit a band of misfits layer hens.

What a handsome rooster! I know everyone will be happy when Isi again has an Icelandic flock to watch over.
