Here are just a few tidbits of the musings floating around in my head.
I finally got an Isbar egg closer to the promised color. This was laid by either Anna or Frida this afternoon. I am really excited about this and hope the egg color continues to improve. The juvenile pullets are almost 23 weeks old now so I am hoping they start laying soon.
We may have snow tomorrow! There is a 30% chance of precipitation at 7:00 a.m. when the temperature will be 31 degrees. I’ll be up feeding the animals so if it happens, I’ll be there. Here is a picture of the courthouse taken in March 2006 when there was snowfall in beautiful downtown Auburn!
I decided to re-home my little bantam frizzled cochin Phyllis toady. She is so over mated by Reggie, the big Legbar rooster that her head and back are nearly bald. She spends her days hiding under the small broody coop. I found Diana on Craigslist, a lovely lady with a banty coop with only one occupant, a frizzled cochin from a rescue in Vacaville two weeks ago. What a perfect setup. I also sent along the two chicks I hatched from Phyllis’s eggs. They can all be a little happy family now without a big scary rooster stalking them. This was a picture I took of Phyllis yesterday. Today much of her head fluff was gone and her back was raw and completely bare. I will miss her but I know she will have a much better life at her new home.
I wanted to share a picture I took this morning of Martha Stewart and Chatty Cathy in side by side nest boxes. Chatty Cathy was chattin’ up a storm which in real life would never happen with Martha Stewart in the nest box next door.
That’s it. I am going to bed and will hopefully be back with pictures of the Buck ‘n Run Ranch in the snow!

Well get on over to the store and order some! The eggs being laid by the new pullets are even prettier.
