There was more hatch drama for me. I took the last two emu eggs out of the incubator to weigh them. I sat them down on my desk. While I was weighing egg “C” egg “B” looked like it moved a little. I went to the other room and called Michael in to take a look. On my way back, I heard a thud and arrived back in my office to find egg “B” on the floor! It had rolled off my desk. OMG! We just recently had carpet laid down over ceramic tile or that egg would have splattered to the four walls! As crazy as it seems, here is video taken after the roll off the desk! (The chain you see moving is a reflection of the chain pull on my desk lamp onto the glass desktop.)
In other news, Egg “C” is not moving at all and has lost almost nothing this week for an overall total of 9.7% compared to 14.4% for egg “B.” I am not counting egg “C” out but I would be surprised if it is still viable, assuming it had ver been. For now it is staying in the incubator. I am just thrilled to know that a baby emu is in egg “B” and so hope that it hatches successfully. It is a small egg so it may hatch a bit early, maybe in the next ten days. Fingers are crossed.
