We are expecting the storm of the century tomorrow, or so it seems if you watch the local news. Wind, rain and snow at unprecedented low elevations is predicted. I bought into it and spent the day preparing. I bought supplies for the animals and moved baby chicks around so as to be best able to keep them warm in the event of a power failure. I stocked up on groceries and bottled water because we have a well and the pump doesn’t work if the power goes out. Flashlights and candles are at the ready. The laundry is caught up, the dishes all clean, and the gas tanks full. We are on full alert.
The New Year’s babies prepared themselves with an impromptu tornado drill.
Isi practiced aerial maneuvers from the back of the Polaris.
Skye inspected the goat coop for storm worthiness.
Thelma inspected the chicken coop for food.
Jack discussed doppler radar with blind Lucy.
Blind Lucy tested the disabled roost.
Louise got stuck in the baby coop while testing the pop door.
Louise practiced screaming at the top of her lungs while seeking shelter from rising water.
Thelma practiced screaming at the top of her lungs with laryngitis from screaming at the top of her lungs.
Diana spent the day in time out for bad behavior, hoping a power failure would prevent her being listed for sale on Craigslist.
I think we’re ready!

I love the disabled roost!
