I went out to the yard this morning to find everyone happy and waiting for me.
Then I noticed we had a little visitor in the yard. It was a pretty white bird with black tail feathers. He was just hanging out with the chickens. He would let me approach him but I couldn’t pick him up. He seemed to be able to fly but just didn’t want to leave.
He hung around all day, mostly chilling with the chickens. The hens ignored him, except for Thelma and Louise who tried to peck him. I think the fact that he was close in size to them made them nervous. They wouldn’t DARE go after one of the big girls.
Aidan couldn’t care less about the bird. He wants to know what I am hiding in my pocket. Raisins? Peanuts? Cereal? Goat Crank? “Come on Mama, share”!
Sometimes our little visitor roosted on top of the chicken run.
Here he is the last time I saw him, on the neighbor’s roof.
I posted this picture on a bird watcher’s forum. They told me he is probably a domestic pigeon, maybe lost or he was released at a wedding. I guess that’s popular. I hope he comes back tomorrow. It was fun having him around. If he’s here tomorrow he’s gettin’ a name!

Too funny Cindy! Actually a couple of weeks ago I drove past a local nursery. They had a big sign out front that read "Exotic Bantam Chicks for Sale." I almost did a doughnut in the street to get back there. When I got home I told Michael about it. He said "we could get 3 and have an even dozen." Maybe he was kidding? Maybe he meant it and I should just surprise him? Maybe we’ll have to move into the coop and let the chickens have the house?
