Today was a quiet day here. Since I will be taking my camera in for cleaning and repair tomorrow I wandered around the yard today taking photographs. I saw some signs that Spring is almost here. I was in Lowes yesterday and they have all the vegetable transplants in stock. I was so tempted to buy tomatoes, peppers, basil, eggplant, and everything else. But, I remembered reading that the last day for frost danger is March 24th. And, my raised beds are still full of leftover and bolted plants from my Fall/Winter garden. I have been pulling the huge broccoli and cauliflower plants up and giving them to the goats. They go a little crazy over it, kind of like goat crank according to Michael.
I think I over estimated the amount of parsley and celery we could eat!
I think I’ll move my artichokes to a half wine barrel on the patio. They are getting too big for the raised planters.
The fruit trees are in full bloom right now.
The pansies are still in bloom. Emily and Amanda planted them last summer.
Around in the backyard, wildflower seeds Michael sowed in the Fall are staring to bloom.
The chickens are enjoying a nice dirt bath on a beautiful spring-like day.
A little Eastern Fox squirrel enjoys lunch from our squirrel-in-a-jar feeder. My sister told me about these and I had to have one.
Look closely and you’ll see a squirrel in the jar!
Like all our animals he could only be good for so long. Then he had to go try to steal my fabric hanging from the tree.
But the most obvious sign that spring is just around the corner…
