So here’s what happened at the races. ( Sorry, pictures were lost)
Buddy finished the Saturday morning race, 70 cc modified class in first place. He lapped the other kids so he had to do an extra lap when the 40 minute time limit was called. The checkered flag came out just as he went by! On that extra lap he broke his tailpipe off and came in slow and loud, but in first place. He had to race the next two classes on his practice bike.
Out in front, he wins the holeshot!
Over the tires with ease.
Takes the checkered flag!
He gets a high five from dad and a big smile from Mom.
Broken tailpipe.
First place finish on the podium.
Buddy finished third in the afternoon, 8-15 year old sport class. This is quite an accomplishment since he was racing against older kids on bigger bikes and he was racing his practice quad.
We celebrated with dinner at Chili’s. I offered to split my rib dinner with Buddy and he ordered his half with habanero sauce! He also ate a kid’s pizza, shared his Mom’s salad, Michael’s baked potato and a tropical dessert, courtesy of the restaurant manager. I think she just wanted us out of there!
