I have been a little bit chick-obsessed lately so I decided for today’s Farm Focus Friday I would stay out of the coops and chick brooder.I took my camera out first thing this morning to capture a few images. We are in the midst of a horrible drought here in California and the effects are noticeable. This year’s crop of wild blackberries are tiny and the bushes are more sparse. These aren’t even worth getting scratched up for.
The heat has been good for tomatoes. I planted early enough that I will have a bunker crop this season. These little yellow pear tomatoes are the best!
I only planted one eggplant bush which was smart. It has been very productive.
It still has lots of blossoms yet.
This was my first zucchini of the summer! This bit was already taken when I picked it this morning!
I planted a few colorful flowers in my garden beds this year. I especially like this one. I can’t remember the name but feel free to shout it out if you know!
The herb garden has gone absolutely crazy and I love it!
This mini zinnia is another favorite.
I can’t remember what kind of pepper this is either!
I used some of these to make pico de gallo to go on carnitas for dinner. Fresh tomatoes are so much better than the hothouse, store-bought tomatoes. There simply is no comparison. We have enjoyed our fresh tomatoes on BLT sandwiches, Caprese salad, and eaten out of hand.
This weed is apparently very drought tolerate as it is all over our property!
