My project broody hatched three chicks three weeks ago. Two disappeared without a trace. The third has been AWOL much of the time, but as of today, he is under my control! Thanks to my trusty net, he was captured, after being on the run since last night.
He was brought into the house and given a thorough evaluation by the chicken doctor (me).
He was taken back outside and given a stern talking to and review of the rules.
He was allowed to say goodbye to his mother, who moved on weeks ago. Mama can be seen here in front, enjoying the cabana with her coop-mates.
The bad baby was then relocated to Coop #1 which currently houses chicks a wee bit older than him. It was interesting that he jumped straight up into the nest box with the other project birds.
The olive eggers stayed to themselves too!
Jeeze, I wonder if those two are boys?
Here he is showing the older kids how to escape through the automatic pop door. Sorry little guy. The batteries have been removed!
