Today was the deadline to submit three photos for assignment two of my food photography class. Here was the task: Set up some simple still life images and shoot them from many different angles. When you think you have captured your subject every way possible and at every different aperture, change lenses and do it all over again!
I only had this morning to complete the assignment. I have been unpacking boxes, moving stuff around, cleaning coops, and moving chickens. Granddaughter Emily was here to help but we kind of procrastinated, leaving much of the work to be done on Friday. Saturday morning my back was out. I had to leave my assignment until the last day.
My back was worse this morning but I trudged on and took a few hours to myself and got it done. I am sure it is not what the instructor had in mind, but I did the best I could. With my big camera and huge lens I need an extension tube to get close to the subject. This meant I could not use auto-focus so I had to manually focus. I tripped over the tripod, reflector stand and the table my food was on, moving it all over the house to catch the best light. What the instructor really wanted us to do was to find a picture within the picture, or focus in on only a small part. Like this.
But did I submit those? Noooooooooo. I reverted back to my usual style. It is what I know and feel works best with my blog. Here are the three photos I submitted. They will be reviewed by the instructor tomorrow and I will add the critiques.
