Jack, our mammoth donkey is a bit of a lazy ass. I’t perfectly o.k. to call him an ass.
Webster Dictionary: Ass: any of several hardy gregarious African or Asian perissodactyl mammals (genus Equus) smaller than the horse and having long ears.
See? It’s just fine. Diana is an ass as well, although not as lazy an ass as Jack. Diana will run from time to time, usually to get through an open gate or when food is involved. I would describe Diana as more of a spoiled rotten ass.
Diana is fond of bucking, mostly to kick Jack, to get something she wants. While the running part of the ranch name was inspired by the emus, Diana was the inspiration for the buck.
Our donkeys live a somewhat sedentary life; grazing, sleeping, watching cars go by, occasionally pointing their ears at a deer or stray dog. Yesterday morning something inspired our lazy, spoiled rotten asses to run and buck and buck and run. Their running even inspired the horse next door to join the fun. Everybody was bucking and running and earning their keep. Here in one fell swoop is the the Buck and Run Ranch! Enjoy!
