We have been looking for a female emu since finding out both of ours are males. I located someone selling a couple of juvenile emus two hours away from home. I paid for DNA testing on the two emus and, when the owner got the results and found out they were both females, she decided not to sell them. She even lied to me, telling me the lab couldn’t determine the gender. Little did she know the lab would call me with the results too. They were so disgusted by her behavior that they refunded my money and billed her!
I didn’t give up and a couple of weeks ago found a couple more emus in need of a new home 140 miles from us. Again, I had them DNA tested but had the results sent only to me. I don’t think this seller would have done the same thing, but I wasn’t taking any chances. I just got the results today and both emus are girls! We are buying both of them and picking them up on Wednesday. They are just about a month younger than Stuart and Louis! You should have seen their faces when I told them that they are each getting their own girlfriend!
If online sources are correct and this is truly a mating dance, we are getting these boys some girlfriends just in the nick of time! Click to enjoy and turn up the volume!
