My son Mark and his family left this morning for home in La Quinta, CA. It is a suburb of Palm Springs.
I miss them already but we had a nice visit. Yesterday’s family BBQ was chaotic to say the least. But it was fun and it is always nice to get everyone together. I didn’t have time for many pictures but I stole a few from my DIL DeeDee’s camera. Have I mentioned that I love DeeDee? She is a wonderful daughter-in-law and such a great Mom to my grandson. In all the years they have been together she has not given me cause to bring out my mother-in-law claws. I am blessed.
They left as they arrived, with the race quad standing on it tail in the truck with all the golf clubs and race gear crammed in every nook and cranny. I sent them home with a huge tub of red ropes, cosmic brownies, and enough pickled goods and jam to fill the back seat, leaving just enough room to squeeze Buddy in.
Here are some shots from the party yesterday. Buddy used all the junk he found lying around to make jumps for his RC cars.
He raced them all over the pasture wowing the crowd with his aerial stunts.
Here Buddy is flanked by my his cousins. Emily is on the left. She is a senior this year and turns 18 next month. Amanda is 14, on the right. She just started high school as a freshman. I think she is officially taller than her sister!
Here is Buddy with his great grandfather, my father.
Amanda and Buddy took a boat trip on the pond but returned early. Amanda says Buddy was lazy and didn’t help row.
Michael flew and crashed his RC airplane as the sun went down.
My secret, that no ones knows but me is, the day started out like this. They all slept through what is, without a doubt, the most beautiful part of any day at the Buck ‘N Run Ranch.
Mark, DeeDee and Buddy should be home by now, tucked into bed. Tomorrow Buddy will pick up his schedule, get his P.E uniform, buy school supplies and get ready to start the 7th grade on Monday.
