The chicks are happy as can be in the bathroom. They have a fine set-up in there with a cage, fresh water, food, a perch and a heat lamp. Michael put a digital thermometer in the cage. They have to be kept at 90 to 95 degrees. Nice digs, huh?
They were already trained to use a rabbit waterer so that’s great. They can’t step in it and make a big mess. But, it is a bit noisy when they tap on the ball to release the water, which is pretty much all the time. From upstairs it sounds like Morse code.
I think Thelma is starting to look like Art Carney. Hmmmm………….
Michael doesn’t always listen. No surprise to those readers who know us! When I told him how long the chicks have to live in the bathroom he heard “2 weeks” but I said “8 weeks.” Boy was he surprised when he heard it this time! He’s up for it though.
We are getting four eggs a day consistently now from our six hens. I am waiting for the day I get five! Simple things make me happy. I enjoy sharing the eggs with family and neighbors. I enjoy eating them too. Here’s what I have collected in a week, 27 eggs!
