Pantry Reorganization

March 7, 2014

Lately I have seen a lot of bloggers posting about re-organizing their pantries. I don’t have a pantry per se, but I did convert a couple of large cabinets on the service porch into pantries. They have gotten so disheveled I couldn’t find anything in them. Yesterday I decided it was time to do some cleaning and re-organizing. I took everything out, checked for out dates and staleness, sorted the cooking items from the baking items and put everything back nice and tidy but still a bit cramped.

Cleaning and reorganizing the pantries not only benefited me but a certain bunch of spoiled animals got lucky too. I had two big bowls of stale cereal, outdated vanilla wafers, sunflower seeds, chow mien noodles, dried fruit, etc.

It was a beautiful day so I headed out to see of anyone was interested.

The emus liked the granola and the age spots on my hand.

Laverna and Shirley liked the vanilla wafers.

Jack and Diane liked everything except Diane spit out the dried apples.

Diane hates apples. Who ever heard of a donkey that didn’t like apples? The apples still did not go to waste.

Jack showed his gross manliness by eating the apples after Diane spit them out.  Waste not, want not I guess.

Of course the chickens like it all!

Wait a minute. Where is Skye?

Skye never misses treats. She’s an old girl. I am worried. I’d better check inside the coop. Whew, there she is. She is probably thinking about going broody. She thinks about it a lot but hasn’t laid an egg for over a year. She is checking out an egg somebody else laid. She is one of the sweetest chickens we have ever had. I am so glad she is ok.

At the end of the day the pantries are cleaned, I am pleased with myself and the animals are well spoiled. It was a good day.
