Stuck between high school and college, granddaughter Emily has a lot of time on her hands. I occasionally take advantage of it and hire her to get stuff done around the house. I still had 8-10 boxes to unpack, a cluttered and dirty porch, and Michael’s music studio to organize. Emily came up a few days ago and tackled the wraparound porch which is huge. She picked up all the shoes, socks, tools, trash and Red Bull cans. We followed that with a thorough washing, scrubbing, and rinsing the decking. Emily did all the work. I just sprayed the hose for her! My plan has been to have a little seating area in the spot outside between my office and the kitchen. I visualized me and Tucker out there drinking coffee in the mornings after feeding the chickens. Tucker could use a jolt of caffeine from time to time.
Here’s the little seating area.
We added hooks just outside the back door to store the empty feed buckets when not in use.
We put a dwarf Meyer lemon in an old pot.
This is the old milk delivery box I found on eBay before I bought the house. It is perfect here!
Here comes Emily and Tucker around the porch.
We hung some reproduction signs.
We found this cute chicken magazine holder at Tractor Supply.
This is the small seating area at the front of the porch across the back of the house.
The front porch only got new cushions. It still needs a lot of work.
Here is the eating area on the front deck.
It needs a face lift but all it got was a good scrubbing today. I must have worked Emily too hard today. She was in bed right after dinner! Tomorrow she needs to tackle the Michael’s music room and all those cords!

Nice porch! Love the idea of outdoor hooks – may try that. Have to keep things high enough up so the geese can’t chew them.

I was just telling a friend of mine (Walt Leonard) in California that I was gonna come out there, to get out of this muddy cesspool for a while! So tired of the rain and mud here…..
I sure do love those big ol’ wrap around porches! I would be out there all day long.

Sounds like a good idea! Whenever I complain about the rain I feel the need to preface it with, “I know we need the rain, but” (insert whine here).

Looks wonderful! Very inviting and homey. Love it!
I remember those milk boxes. When I was a wee little one we had our milk delivered.
